Helen Davey

International Midwife Educator

Helen Davey is a qualified nurse and a midwife with over 14 years of experience in the field of nursing, midwifery and maternal care. Prior to this, she was the health coordinator of a project in southern Ukraine, providing emergency care and working under the humanitarian sector structure. She was also focusing on the implementation of gender-based violence training and clinical rape management training in this role. Helen has a Diploma in Tropical Nursing and a Postgraduate Certificate in Research Methods. Helen is a NIPE (Newborn Infant Physical Examination) practitioner and holds an Advanced Assessment Practitioner Award with the University of Cambridge Assessment Network. She is currently pursuing a Masters in Global Health Policy from London School Tropical Hygiene and Medicine alongside her work at Aastrika Foundation.

Helen has also worked in nursing and midwifery in several countries across Europe, East Africa, and Asia and is an active member of the UK’s Emergency Medical Team (EMT) and Save the Children’s Emergency Field Hospital Team. When she is not practising midwifery, she can be found travelling or playing rugby.
